The European Network on Inclusive Education & Disability, incluD-ed, promoted by Fundación ONCE and co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Programme "Fight Against Discrimination 2007-2013", supports the Commissions’ Proposal for a Directive on the Accessibility of Public Sector Bodies’ Websites, published by the European Commission on 3 December 2012. Nevertheless, incluD-ed has several concerns, comments and recommendations on the Proposal and its implementation that can be read in this position paper.
This position paper underlines the following points:
-
- incluD-ed supports the chosen website coverage by the EU proposal
-
- incluD-ed requests a continuous improvement of the Directive, including also public websites developed during the legislative process and new technological devices used by public services
-
- incluD-ed calls for concrete measures to support the Member States
-
- incluD-ed requests adequate monitoring to ensure compliance with the Directive
The European Network on Inclusive Education & Disability, incluD-ed, will support the process of making public but also private websites accessible throughout the EU.
