Indicators of Inclusive Schools: Continuing the Conversation (2013)
The Government of Alberta believes that all learners should be respected and valued within an inclusive learning environment. Inspiring Education: A Dialogue with Albertans (2010) clearly identified values and principles that will shift thinking and move toward an education system that is centred on the learner, and embraces, values and celebrates diversity. Indicators of Inclusive Schools: Continuing the Conversationis one of Education’s responses to an ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive education system.
Indicators of Inclusive Schools: Continuing the Conversation is a resource that:
- offers information and tools that leaders can use to support schools and school systems to reflect on how their schools are demonstrating a commitment to inclusive education;
- assists school staffs to develop strategies and action plans to strengthen inclusive education and ensure equitable access for all learners.
Information generated from the strategies outlined in the resource can be used to inform the Three-Year Education Plan and provide assurance to school communities that every student has equitable access to an education. For more information on school authority planning and reporting, see: /admin/resources/planning.aspx.
Indicators of Inclusive Schools: Continuing the Conversation is not an evaluation tool; rather it is a resource designed to help school staff develop strategies and action plans to strengthen inclusive practices and better meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
