U-Multirank, a new university ranking system set up with European funding, has been publicly launched under the Irish EU Presidency in Dublin on 30 January. incluD-ed fully supports the good intentions and the engagement in this field shown by the European Commission. However, incluD-ed is concerned about several other aspects of U-Multirank and has sent a position paper to Androulla Vassiliou, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, and to the CHERPA network, which is responsible for the design and implementation of the ranking.

  The objective of the Trinity Inclusive Curriculum (TIC) project (2008–2011) was to mainstream inclusive principles within the entire curricula so as to enable all students, particularly those from nontraditional learning backgrounds, to participate more fully in the academic life of the College.

Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden

  Karolinska Institutet has developed a DVD about concrete problematic situations that might occur in the learning environment for people with disabilities. The DVD shows what can be done to develop a more inclusive and equal way to learn, and aims to encourage teachers to reflect on the issues faced by students with different disabilities.

  This research project focused on the important competences that teachers need to develop in order to teach children with special needs in regular classrooms. The five core competences identified through qualitative and quantitative research were included in the curricula of teacher education at the University College Sint-Lieven.

Student life – a programme to promote studies at the University of Jyväskylä APF organises events to foster inclusion throughout France  
     
The University of Jyväskylä has launched Student Life, a large-scale program approaching students’ wellbeing from multiple angles. The aims are to develop new models of studying that focus on individual learning methods and technologies that support study.

Association des Paralysés de France (APF) and its partners are organising in every French region an event to talk about how to foster the inclusion of people with disabilities. Called Etats Régionaux de l’Inclusion, this project started in 2011 and will measure annually until 2016 the progress that has been made throughout France in terms of inclusivity.
