2nd International Conference on Inclusive Education”Achieving Inclusive Education through Post EFA Goals 2015 – How Far are We?”

On 9 - 11 January, 2015 under the banner of Asian Centre for Inclusive Education (ACIE) the 2nd International Conference on Inclusive Education” Achieving Inclusive Education through Post EFA Goals 2015 – How Far are We?” will be held at the Proyash Institute of Special Education & Research, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Proyash - Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
The aim of the conference is to get an opportunity to share and disseminate ideas, research findings, academic and field-level experiences on Inclusive Education from the developing country experiences with a view to developing a recommendation guideline for UNESCO so that they can consider it while selecting implementation strategy of the Post-EFA goals 2015.
Based on the Post EFA 2015 goals set by the UNESCO, sub-themes of the conference promote Research/models/experiences/practices related to:
> Equal Access to Education: Equal access to, and complete, comprehensive early childhood education, primary and lower secondary education in developing countries for ensuring inclusive education—Equal access will also cover acceptance/beliefs/attitudes of school, peers, teachers, parents and community. Completion will also mean achieving competency in education
> Ensuring Quality in Education: Inclusive Education as a quality improvement in education (i.e. whole school improvement) in the context of Developing Countries. Quality will cover issues in respect to school curriculum, teaching-learning, assessment, school management, classroom management, leadership, teacher education etc.
> Education as a strategy for Access to Employment: Inclusive education as a window to social inclusion in every sphere of life including job sectors in Developing Countries
> Challenges of Inclusive Education: Strategies to eliminate inequalities in education by 2030 through implementing inclusive education, taking specific measures to reach those disadvantaged by factors such as gender, poverty, location, ethnicity or disability: Challenges/barriers and strategies in Developing Countries. Challenges will cover issues in respect to school curriculum, classroom management, teaching-learning, assessment, school management, leadership, teacher education etc.
> Making Financing in Education Inclusive: GO-NGO investment, school level financing and resource mobilisation, aid management, reaching the most vulnerable groups through ensuring funding in the context of Developing Countries
Participants
The Conference is open for academics, practitioners, researchers, students, parents, teachers, NGO-workers, public servants and policy-makers with an interest in promoting inclusive education either in the region or in the globe.
Accommodation for international delegates
Accommodation of international delegates will be arranged by the conference organizers in local hotels (Asia Pacific Blossoms Hotel, Baridhara, Dhaka) with all meals and transportations.
Impact of this conference:
- Provide a recommendation guideline to the global community from developing countries that could be considered while developing implementation strategies of the Post-EFA goals in 2015.

ACIE is a joint initiative of some academics, scholars, practitioners and researchers of universities and professional bodies in the Asia-Pacific region. Its prime objective is to improve access to high quality education of disadvantaged children in Asian countries and beyond. The Secretariat of the Centre is currently based at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Different universities, professional bodies and individual scholars of Asian region are the members of ACIE. The professionals working in other countries outside Asia (e.g Australia, Canada and the USA) who have interest in promoting inclusive education in this region are also associated with this centre.
