The "Erasmus Mundus Special and Inclusive Education" course aims to enable students to critically explore policy and practice in Special and Inclusive Education within Europe and internationally. Expert leaders in different countries and institutions will help you to enrich your prior knowledge and develop the skills necessary for understanding and conducting research in SIE at an advanced level, in order to contribute to this currently under-researched area, and to inform local developments globally.
Applications now open for 2015 entry
The course requires successful completion of 90 ECTS (UK equivalent is 180 credits at masters level).
The course starts in London in September with a formal induction programme involving all EU partners and the students are then taught in London until December. In January the group goes to Oslo (Norway) where they are based until March. From April until June, students go to Prague (Czech Republic) to complete their last taught module.
Students are then based in the most appropriate country to complete their dissertations over the remaining six months. During this time there is an opportunity to spend three months (July-September) at USM in Malaysia where students will be able to engage in comparative study. The third country experience is optional for students and takes place during academic term time in the third country institutions.
There is also an opportunity for individuals with extensive professional/academic experience in the field of SIE to apply to be Scholars and undertake a three month (maximum) research project, contribute to teaching, networking and supporting students on the Erasmus Mundus MA in Special and Inclusive Education. Further information can be found on the Entry requirements and applications page.
