Views of incluD-ed on EDF’s proposal of a European Mobility Card

The incluD-ed network, the European Network on Inclusive Education & Disability, shared at the end of March its reflections in regards to the European Disability Forum’s (EDF) proposal to introduce a European Mobility Card.
In May 2011, the EDF presented a “Proposal for a European Mobility Card” within the framework of its Top Campaign 2011 on the theme of “Freedom of Movement” to facilitate the travel and stay of people with disabilities in another European Union Member State (EU MS) by granting them access to the same services as residents with disabilities in that country.
This position paper has been prepared by the incluD-ed network knowing that the possibility of an EU Mobility Card is currently being discussed. An EU Mobility Card would be especially important to improve the education and working situation of young people with disabilities in the EU.

The position paper has been sent to the European Commission (DG EAC, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, DG Justice), to European Parliament Members (CULT Committee, Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), chairs and coordinators of IMCO, LIBE, EAC, Disability Intergroup), Permanent Representations of EU MS (Employment and Education Counsellors) as well as to the current EU Presidency (Latvia) and Brussels contacts of the incluD-ed network.
