‘As far as art is concerned, there are no physical limitations.’ - Interview with Łukasz Siatkowski (3/3) -

Music – Łukasz the musician
As in art, Lukasz is self-taught in music. Music is his passion. He plays keyboard every day and describes his music as something that rises from the soul, not from skills. For over seven years now, he has played keyboard for Crane Work Zone, a band that creates relaxing instrumental sounds by fusing rock and jazz with chill out. The band gives regular concerts and has already recorded one album.
incluD-ed: When did you start to play music? Who encouraged you? Why keyboard? Do you play any other instruments?
Łukasz Siatkowski: As a child, I dreamt about playing and eventually I met amazing musicians. With them, I came up with the music, despite of whatever limitations there were. I chose keyboard because I was brought up listening to “Shine on you Crazy Diamond”, and also because this instrument was easy for me to master, physically and psychologically, according to my will. I am a self-taught musician, although many have tried to teach me to read music.
incluD-ed: How did the music group Crane Work Zone start? Were you in it from the beginning?
Łukasz Siatkowski: I met Dominik Kosiorem at a music show where he was performing with his band, BJT. He was impressed with my version of “Child in Time”. Later on, we found Mateusz Dąbrowski. And so, in this group of three, we began making mysterious dance tunes.
incluD-ed: Where and when do you give concerts? Are they well attended? How do people react?
Łukasz Siatkowski: We try to perform as often as possible. And we love when the people who show up are laid-back, relaxed, separated from the grey everyday reality of constant worries. My dream is to give a concert that brings to life the album cover of “Momentary Lapse of Reason” by Pink Floyd - a concert in a hall that is full of beds.
Poetry - Łukasz the poet and philosopher
Lukasz has a personal blog and a Facebook page where he posts texts about everything that moves him – “about jazz, about life, about the importance of the creative act. CD reviews of progressive rock, jazz, ambient music”. He writes that “there are and will be reflections on mainstream contemporary art” and he hopes that his entries will initiate interesting discussions “on issues truly important”.
incluD-ed: You also write and recite poems. What are they about?
Łukasz Siatkowski: My poetry is a controversial juxtaposition of different linguistic devices, sort of neo-semiotics.
incluD-ed: You once said “As far as art is concerned there are no physical limitations”. How do you feel about this? What does art mean to you?
Łukasz Siatkowski: We can liberate ourselves from the barriers set in our minds by gathering our dreams, reactions to the world, and emotions in one place, even on paper. Art is a catharsis for the mind and soul.

PRZYCZYNEK DO MANIFESTU = Cause of manifesto
“Let’s reject the mass ‘pat on the back’. Full of pity and sympathy… It’s no good. It’s just a process of getting used to the limitations. Then you build the useless ramps on stairs that show you don’t understand us or our needs, you don’t see the world through our eyes. If we want to be understood, we have to give you our eyes.
(…) Let’s not get superior with our “disability”. Let’s not be unbearable. For once, let’s abandon the thought that we are privileged. We have to treat them gently, reducing the distance with warmth. Let’s talk about needs and LISTEN… let our words be the living proof of human nature”.
