NNDR – 12th Research Conference

The NNDR – 12th Research Conference organized by Nordic Network of Disability Research and Finnish Association for Disability Research will take place on May 30–31, 2013 in a coastal town next to Turku, Finland.
NNDR2013 conference brings together researchers, policy makers, activists and practitioners to share scholarship and ideas, and provides a forum for Nordic and international collaboration in disability studies. The conference welcomes a wide range of contributions applying social, cultural, historical and philosophical perspectives to the study of disability.
Keynote speakers of the conference are Eva Feder Kittay, Dan Goodley, Jan Grue and Kalle Könkkölä, Executive director of Threshold Association Finland (Kynnys Ry’) and member of the incluD-ed network.
Kalle Könkkölä is an internationally acknowledged disability activist and founded the Finnish independent living movement in 1973 by establishing the Threshold association. He has also established a Finnish human rights center for citizens with disabilities, and Abilis-foundation, a development co-operation organization that has supported disabled people's organizations in the Global South.
