www.SocialDialogue.net is an on-line dissemination tool that provides resources on employment and disability issues in the European Union.
SDNet provides:
- -Information on a wide range of employment and disability issues.
- -News, policies, good practices and innovative developments at a National and European level.
- -Projects Database covering research, development and innovation projects on employment and disability that have been funded by the European Union and other bodies since 2000.
- -An advanced search tool allowing users to locate projects, project partners, methods and results
Project object:
- - Employment policy is recognised as one of the corner stones of European economic and social development.
- -The European Employment Strategy aims to support sustainable economic growth, with more and better jobs for everyone and greater social cohesion. This strategy is designed to give Europe the conditions for achieving full employment, strengthening the social fabric of society and bringing greater prosperity and security for all EU citizens.
- - Europeans with disabilities face considerable barriers in the world of work. They experience many challenges with the systems in place today, such as: gaining access to education and training, acquiring new job skills, moving between countries, adjustments to their work environment, obtaining specialised technical aids, or receiving appropriate guidance and support to return to work after an accident or long-term illness.
- -European society needs to adapt not only to the demands of the global, knowledge based economy but also, in a way that ensures that all its citizens, including disabled people, are able to play a role in the job market.
Methodology
'SocialDialogue.net' was initially developed in 2001 - 2003 as a dissemination tool for a European project, "Social Dialogue Portal. NetJob", which focussed on vocational training in high-level Information Technology skills and the employment of disabled people. The project, led by the Danish Centre for Assistive Technology was supported by the European Social Funds "Innovative Measures" budget, and involved twelve organisations from three European countries: Denmark, Greece and Ireland. Good practice innovations
In 2005-2006 the socialdialogue.net website has undergone an upgrade and a re-launch, under the management of the original technical team, EWORX S.A., Greece, in partnership with the Work Research Centre and REHAB Group, Ireland, and the European Platform for Rehabilitation, based in Belgium. This partnership has also received support from the European Social Funds "Innovative Measures" programme, with the specific aim of enhancing the dissemination of information about employment and disability initiatives in the Member States of the Europe.
