FUB, The Swedish National Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability
FUB is an advocacy organisation working to enable children, young persons and adults with an intellectual disability to lead a good life. FUB has about 28 000 members in more than 150 local branches all over the country. Our members are persons with an intellectual disability, their families, professionals who work in areas related to intellectual disability as well as people who simply want to support the work we do.
Target
FUB safeguards the interest of persons with an intellectual disability in municipalities, county councils, the Riksdag and in relation to public authorities in different sectors of society.
Activities
FUB distributes information to its own members and the general public.
FUB offers support to its members through solicitors and organising secretaries.
FUB published two journals for members: FUB-Kontakt and the easy-to-read magazine Steget. Now - from May 2004 - these journals are published toghether in one journal with a new name, UNIK.
FUB conducts research and development work through the FUB Development and the ALA Foundation.
FUB co-operates closely with other organisations of the disabled within the Swedish Co-operative Body of Organisation of Disabled People and through Inclusion International.
